Hello, I recently purchased a new laptop and loaded it with the newest version of Firefox 54.0.1 32-bit And loaded Acrobat DC Pro but the add-on for acrobat dc create pdf is disabled and not working. I have it loaded on my other laptops and it is working fine with the same version of Windows 10 and same version of Firefox. Both laptops are running Windows 10 x64 Home.

Do I need to Uninstall Acrobat DC Pro for Windows. Is there something that I need to do differently since it is working fine on one laptop and not the other?

Is there anyone that can help me out with this issue?

I would like to thank everyone who has offered support. Especially those individuals that help to create Add-on's for the Mozilla/Firefox community. Without them Firefox wouldn't be what it is today. I have been using Firefox since it 1st came out. The work around that I found was the following Add-On which does exactly what I want and fixes my issue with Adobe Acrobat DC Pro Create PDF from a web page.

Here is the Add-On (WebToPDF) that does exactly the same thing: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webtopdf/?src=search

Sorry but that does not work. What I actually need help in is getting the Adobe Acrobat DC Addon to be enabled so that I can create a PDF from the webpage and add it to my toolbar. The Addon is still listed as Disabled when I go to Add-on Manager. And is states that it could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled.

I will lock the other thread since the OP responded in this thread.

@B-Diddy :

Adobe needs to get that add-on verified   -   have you contacted them
about it   ?

By the way :   the latest version is   17.009.20058

Note that this extension should be signed now.

What message do you see on the about:addons page?

Nope, it still states that Adobe Acrobat DC - Create PDF could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled

Hi B-Diddy, could you go into Acrobat and use this feature:

Help > Check for Updates

to make sure you have the latest update?

The Help > About Acrobat dialog should show one of these versions (all of which are from 2017):

  • 17.009.20058 -- latest version 17 out-of-cycle patch
  • 17.009.20044 -- latest version 17 regular update
  • 15.023.20070 -- latest version 15 optional update
  • 15.023.20053 -- latest version 15 regular update

(To be honest, I'm a little puzzled by the numbering.)

Every time that I clicked check for updates(Which I did 6 times) 15.023.20070 showed up as the available update. Even after rebooting and trying to install the Acrobat DC Basic reader it did not work. When checking for updates in the reader it did show 17.009.20058 But not for Adobe Acrobat DC Pro. It would not provide any other version. 17.xxx.xxxxx did not show up. I downloaded the 17.009.20058 -- latest version 17 out-of-cycle patch from the ftp site but received the following message when trying to apply it

Does your Pro's About dialog show you have 15.023.20070 or 15.023.20053? I think either of those would have the newer extension.

(If you weren't auto-updated to version 17, you may not have a license for major version upgrades.)

Hmm.... That's interesting. I have always purchased full versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro. I never had any issues in the past and did not know that there were any such licenses that indicated a difference. All previous versions updated fine. And the packaging did not indicate anything stating this. It was a Full Retail packaging. I know that I did have problems back when I had Adobe Acrobat X for Windows. When they stopped support. Looking closer at the packaging it does state : Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Release. Any Ideas or suggestions on how I can get this to work? I would hate to fork out additional $$ just to get this feature to work in Firefox. I know that in the last few builds of Firefox they did start to restrict certain Add-ons.

You will have to install the Firefox 52.2.1 ESR version if you need support for unsigned extensions via xpinstall.signatures.required is false.

Thank you, Will I need to uninstall my current version of 54.0.1 ? And then reinstall all of my extensions?

I remember reading about the ESR version allowing you to flag the xpinstall.signatures.required to false.

Which version do you have right now (per the About dialog)? What happens when you try to update?

I know that in the last few builds of Firefox they did start to restrict certain Add-ons.

Firefox 54 should still recognize the Create PDF plugin if you have the signed version. I've been using the one that came with Acrobat XI for quite a while now. Firefox 55 might change that due to increasing requirements for compatibility with the multiprocess feature.

Thanks for the information. It was working fine up until the last few Firefox updates.

Is there a way to downgrade? I mean I could probably Google it, but if you could provide a quicker answer it would be appreciated. I could uninstall it and reinstall a previous version of Firefox. As I do have all of a CLEO pack and all of my Search engines saved.

I will answer your question if you will answer my question.

If you run the installer for the Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) it should detect your existing Firefox profile and seamlessly pick up those settings. cor-el already mentioned this option and gave you the link to the installers. IMPORTANT: Stick with the standard Windows release (32-bit) or check this article: How to switch from 32-bit to 64-bit Firefox.

Then see: Add-on signing in Firefox (advanced user section). Does that preference work in ESR-52?

I followed the instructions, but unfortunately, Adobe Acrobat DC - Create PDF is not showing now in the Add-ons Manager under the 64 bit version of Firefox.

My whole issue is to have the Adobe Acrobat DC - Create PDF working.
