After a HDD reformat I can no longer set up my GMail account in Thunderbird.
I have double checked the password which allows me to open my account in Gmail. Thunderbird consistently rejects my password which is correct. What can I do?

Probably there is nothing wrong with your password, but you might need to set up an app password or allow less secure apps for Gmail again. See this article at Gmail.
