Changing primary email account.
I am going around in circles, trying to change my primary email account. Nothing works and it will not let me disconnet and start again.
I followed the instructions to change the account name, but was not given an option to change the primary. I then disconnected and tried to start again, but it still would not let me use my new email and keeps insisting I log in on my old email. I am going crazy trying to sort this out. Mozilla is not at all helpful.

Can you delete the Sync account via this page?
You can disconnect from Sync by clicking the e-mail address in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list or go to "Options/Preferences > Sync". Delete the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder and delete the Weave folder (Sync was formerly named Weave). Remove an existing chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Firefox Password Manager. If that isn't enough then delete the prefs.js files to reset all prefs and maybe also delete the compatibility.ini file to reinitialize the profile.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Are you referring to changing your email address for a Firefox Account, like with the Sync service?
If so, the email address can't be changed or edited, you would need to create a new Firefox Account with the current correct email address. And you need to be signed off your Firefox Account before creating a new Firefox Account.
Hope that answers your question.
Yes, thank you - that is the problem. However, when I try to create a new account, a box comes up that says a previous user is trying to log in so do I want to sync. When I answer yes, it then tells me myprimary account is needed (the old account) and I go around in circles.
Any other answers to my problem? I am trying to close my old e-mail account so do not want Firefox having that as my e-mail address. Anybody? Help?

This must be so frustrating and annoying (so sorry !) I'm going to forward this to an Administrator, who will hopefully be able to solve this. But : it's weekend and we're dealing with different time zones, so, it may take a little longer still .....
Yey - thank you Happy112. That makes me happy too. :)

Just did it .......
(And you managed to put a great big smile on my face with that cute pun !)
Happy112 - any news on this? Firefox still wants me to sign in on my old e-mail address and will not let me delete that address. I have been able to add my new e-mail address, but it only sees this as a secondary account and I want that as the primary account, with my old account deleted. Frustrating. :( Thank you.
I sent an email to an Administrator, but, like I said : we're dealing with different time zones, and also : it was weekend (and maybe the administrator is on vacation). Give it a little more time - if you haven't heard anything in, let's say 24 hours, let me know. Right now I will send another email to this Adminitrator.
And here in the USA today is a holiday (Labor Day), the last day of a 3 day weekend.

Thank you all. Happy112 - I appreciate your help in sending a note to the administrator the-edmeister - sorry for being impatient, I did not take into account Labour Day. cor-el - you did it. I only got halfway through your instructions - and was thinking it all sounded a bit confusing, but then something happened and the mjagic occurred. Firefox now recognises my current e-mail address and appears to have deleted my old. Hallelujah. So pleased.
Many, many thanks to all of you. It was incredibly frustrating and I felt I was just going around in circles. The problem is, when people are really techy, they often forget that some of us need simple and easy to use solutions. Happy me. :)
