Why does Firefox keep crashing recently?
In the past few weeks my Firefox 55.0.3 (32-bit) keeps crashing continously. The problem started with tab crashing, which was solved temporarly by the
browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false
After this, suddenly the entire browser started to crash randomly (even with fresh reinstall). I have tried the following, but the browser is still crashing, even though my previous install was about 5-6 years old: - Changing performance settings, changing hardware acceleration - Safe mode - Removing addons - Memory check with Windows Memory Diagnostics - Malware, virus check
The crash reason is EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ in every case, however the memory diagnostics didn't show any problem.
Interesting thing that I tried Opera with uBlock Origin plug-in and it also produced the tab crashing symptoms. I am not sure now whether this is hardware or software related problem.

Even though none of the RAM diagnostic softwares showed any problem for the first few attempts, after doing some hardware changes and running memtest86 / Windows Memory Diagnostics for the 5th time at least, I finally figured out that the cause of the tab crash / BSOD was probably related to a faulty RAM module.
I removed the suspicious RAM few days ago and since then none of the previously mentioned symptoms appeared ever again.
Thanks for all of your help!

A now I even got a random blue screen during using Firefox:
Problem:
Event: BlueScreen OS version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Region ID: 1038
More information:
BCCode: 4e BCP1: 00000099 BCP2: 00000000 BCP3: 00000000 BCP4: 00000000 OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 256_1
Note that I did not have any problems with Firefox until lately. No changes in hardware.
Update ESET. If the problem continues, disable it as a test.
Both FF and ESET has been updated (this latter has been disabled temporarily) in the meantime and the problem still persists.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;
Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Do Not remove the profiles folder.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
