move profile folder to network drive in ubuntu 16.04
I'm trying to move my profile folder to a network drive. I have edited and saved the profile with the path for the folder being smb://brightbox2/seagate/xxxxxxxx.default. The drive is attached to my router and works in all other instances. When I open TB it just opens a new account option with no sign of my existing accounts. Any suggestions please??

You'll also need to adjust profiles.ini to reflect the new absolute path to the profile folder. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profiles.ini_file
Whether a profile on a network drive is a good idea I don't know.

I have edited .thunderbird/profiles.ini to point to smb://brightbox2/seagate/xxxxxxxx.default and changed IsRelative= to 0. This still does not work.
I suppose you do need to mount smb://brightbox2/seagate/xxxxxxxx.default to a local mount point. Google is your friend.
