I have received an email that has corrupted Thunderbird. Now I cannot receive new emails from the server. I have deleted all emails, then uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird having also deleted all Thunderbird folders including all profile folders. I also ran AVG antivirus and Malwarebytes.

Unfortunately, every time I reinstall Thunderbird the suspect email reappears with multiple copies and I cannot receive new email.

The first time I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled, my primary email account was already waiting fully recreated which surprised me. I didn't have to re-enter the details for that account so I uninstalled again and deleted the profile folders and thought I had then cracked the problem. However, as soon as I entered my account details the suspect email soon reappeared and I was back to square one with my emails being blocked by the suspect mail item that originally arrived on 7th October and began blocking my mail 7 instances of it manifesting as I write even although Thunderbird is offline.

Many Thanks

Keithanthony

Go to your email provider's website, log in to your email account there and remove the offending message.

The message is probably formatted or structured poorly such that Thunderbird is left thinking there is more to come, so it cannot mark the message as having been completely downloaded and finished with.

Many thanks Zenos for your rapid response. Deleted the message from the server, also from trash then immediately all of my messages poured into Thunderbird.

This should not have occurred because I originally set Thunderbird to delete messages from server because ISP client is not easy to manage. I had not until recently realized that this had changed until I began investigating this issue and planned to delete all the messages as soon as Thunderbird was back up naturally I should have drilled down to delete that one message. Stupid is as stupid does! LOL

Sorry about that screenshot above completely useless.

Again many thanks.
