1) The tab strip to be a pleasant greyish blue with black fonts. I "upgraded" (?) to 57 and now it's a hard-to-read white on black. I'd like to change it back to the way it was.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. So far as I can see, no one has replied to your question yet.

On the question of colors, you could try the built-in Light theme. There is a Themes button on the bottom of the Customize panel. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars. If the built-in themes are not what you're looking for, there's a link to view themes on the Add-ons site. Try the Solid colors category and see whether you can find a shade you like.

On the question of being smaller, do you mean font sizes and/or zoom level? Or do you mean the window is physically using less of your screen?
