F12 browser tools open when viewing or scrolling web page
Hi I have Firefox 57.0.4 64bit running on Windows 10 Home (64bit) - upto date. Occasionally - about 1 - 2 times per day, the F12 browser tools will open on their own on the debug tab. This often happens when scrolling through a web page. There'll be a js error about something on the page.
While this is all very interesting I'm not bothered to know about errors in other peoples code. I don't want to disable browser tools I just want to know if there is a way to stop them opening automatically? I tried google but couldn't find any similar problems.
This started after the recent major upgrade to firefox (quantum?).
One of the pages this often happens on is facebook, when viewing my news feed, also sub pages from bbc.co.uk/news.
Thanks, K

You can check the devtools.debugger on the about:config page to see if some are user set (bold).
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
Thanks, the only item bold under devtools.debugger is: devtools.debugger.prefs-schema-version;1.0.3
I'll try safe mode today and see if the problem appears.

Hi, It took a day but here is an example of what happens including the URL. I went to that URL in safe mode and did not get the debug window open. However, when I copied the URL into another normal tab (non safe mode), I didn't get the error again (regardless of scrolling or refreshing the page).
