I notice that the emails in my Inbox folder appear to be deleting without my approval. It would seem that they only stay there for six months. I am frustrated that this is happening as I often want to refer back to emails and six months is not a long enough time period for them to start deleting.

Is your account IMAP? If so, the retention settings on your providers server will probably be what is removing the mail, not Thunderbird which defaults to delete nothing.

If that is the case can we now do anything about that

Move them to subfolders or Local Folders. Take ownership.

Thanks for that. It was the conclusion I had come around to so will do that. Nice to know that it is not Mozilla that is doing the deleting
