Since I updated to Firefox 58.0.2 my Yahoo home no longer scrolls thru the news item panes on the "Today" pane and hovering over each item no longer brings it up in the pane main window. Have you stopped supporting Windows 7 in your latest update? These Yahoo features work fine in Internet Explorer 11.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Clearing the Cookies for Yahoo (and all folder variations) didn't help but claring the Cached Web Content DID. Thanks Fred!
