详细了解

Youtube menu does not display scrollbar.

more options

Just updated Firefox to 59.0.2(64-bit), running on Windows7. When I go to Youtube, I am usually interested in checking out the activity in my subscription base. So, I expand the left hand menu, select Subscriptions->Show All. Now I have a menu with my subscriptions listed. But, the list is longer than the height of the display. It used to be, when I moused over this area and scrolled, the list of subscriptions would scroll. Now, the main window scrolls. No matter how I try to shift focus to the menu, I cannot get the list to scroll.

If I try this in IE11, all works as expected. I do not have Chrome installed, so I have no idea if it is working.

I also tried clearing out all of the history, cookies, cache, et al. Closed Firefox and restarted. Still, it does not seem to work.

Any help is appreciated

This affects Firefox, Edge, and Safari. Working are Chrome, Opera and IE. Google is aware of the problem but hasn't yet indicated when it will be fixed. Their main support thread is here: What happend to vertical scroll bar for Subscription list on YouTube? - Google Product Forums.

The issue is: the scrollbar is supposed to be hidden until you move the mouse over the sidebar, and then the scroll bar is supposed to be revealed. For some reason, the script that does this is not working in Firefox, Edge, and Safari.

The temporary workaround is to click the word SUBSCRIPTIONS to load a full page list on the right side.

Or you can "hack" the sidebar to restore the scrollbar by injecting a custom style rule into the page. The easiest way is to use an add-on:

(1) Install the Stylus extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/styl-us/

If you already have Stylish, you don't need Stylus. If you have Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey, you could try those for step #2.

(2) Then install this user style:

YouTube Left Column Scrollable (March 2018)

Stylus or Stylish: click the blue "Install Syle" button. Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey: scroll down and look for "Install style as userscript".

Screenshot comparison attached.

Note: Stylus and Stylish do not work in automatic private browsing mode. If you have Firefox set to "Never Remember History" I could suggest another approach.

Short of Google/Mozilla fixing the issue, this is a good solution. Literally four clicks (two for the links and two for the installs) and I was back to normal operation.

Thank you for the quick response.

Chosen solution!

Jscher2000: Thank you so much for this. It was driving me nuts and I just couldn't find a solution. You made my day!
