It says in the bottom left corner in Thunderbird that my email account is up to date which should mean that ALL of my messages from the email server have been downloaded/synced to my hard drive, right?

Assuming that is correct, why is my mailbox size on the email server (HostGator) larger than the local mailbox. The difference is pretty significant; 22.48 GB on the mail server vs 20.6 GB locally.

Can someone explain the difference please? It is VERY important for me to get this right and I cannot afford for any emails to not be synced on my local machine.

Thanks,

Is Thunderbird downloads the spam folder. Do you have unsubscribed folders? (right click the account and select subscribe from the menu.)
