When I click the Home icon, the cursor is not placed anywhere on the page. My home page is set to be Firefox Start page. New tab correctly puts the cursor in the address/search box on the same page, so why does the Home icon not do the same thing ? This happens on two different computers, and persists in safe mode, after Refreshing Firefox and also after removing the Firefox app and reinstalling it. Running Windows 10.

Are you using the builtin about:home home page or a custom home page (website on internet)?

It should work with the builtin home page, but may not be working with an internet page.

Thanks to Pkshadow and cor-el, but neither suggestion solves the problem. If I create a new profile (and do not import anything from my old profile), and check (in Menu - Options) that the home page is set to default, ie Mozilla Firefox home page, Firefox opens with the cursor in the address/search box. If I click New Tab, a new tab opens with the cursor in the address/search box. In any tab if I click the Home icon (next to the refresh icon, top left) the cursor is not positioned anywhere on the page. To use the search or address boxes, I have to positon the cursor using the mouse or repeated tab key before I start typing. For interest re cor-el's suggestion, if I set my home page to be https://www.google.co.uk/ clicking the Home icon opens the Google search page with the cursor in the search box.
