Scaning from HP Scanner to email client ( Mozilla Thunderbird)
I am using an HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP. Up to the last three weeks I cannot get the scan document from hp scanner to drop into my email client (Thunderbird). Instead I get error message to use Outlook. Prior to the last three weeks everything was working normally. I would scan a document and direct it to my email client and it would show up as an attachment to my email.
I made sure that the windows software default setting for email was set to Thunderbird which it was. By the way I am using Windows version 8.1.
I called and spent hours with HP Tech Support and they cannot discover a fix to this problem. They said to call Thunderbird Tech Support. any help would be most appreciated.

This article has some suggestions. It does mention Win10 but maybe it applies to Win8 also. HP does seem to be stuck on Microsoft proprietary non-standards. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1179198
Installing the Visual Studio Runtime Library in W7 or W8 might help:
