when i open my e-mails all the previous e-mails are attached underneath and i would prefer it if they were not there
About 10 days ago this started and I must have hit the wrong button. I would like each e-mail to be just that individual e-mail.

Can you make a screenshot showing us the unwanted presentation?
I'm guessing that you have accidentally selected a threaded view, but on the other hand, something may be broken that needs attention.
