every time i press the shift button the script editor comes up
every time i press shift in mozzila the dev tool editor comes up. this has only occured since I tried opening the browser and it asked me if i want to use caret browsing. only way to stop the promt from not occuring was to click don't show me again. If i go to the aboutconfig page the accessibility...caretbrowsing is blinking and cannot be reset or toggeled

That sounds like a keyboard mapping was changed.
Did you try to reboot the computer?
