Hi there. Does anybody know how to best do this? I like to import address books and calendars and all existing mail in the different folders I have in Outlook 2011.

I am using 10.6, Sierra, at present. And 2011 is up to date as far as software goes. Thunderbird is the latest Mac version. My email accounts are all POP accounts.

If Outlook is installed on the same computer and you have TB 60.2.1, try the import wizard (Tools/Import...), but don't select 'Import everything'. Import mail and address books separately. If the contacts don't import, save them from Outlook as vCards and import to TB with the help of an add-on (steps 2 & 3).

If your calendars are local and can be exported as .ics files, they can be imported to TB if the Lightning add-on is installed.

Morning sfhowes and thanks.

FYI, I cannot even select 'Import everything'.

For Mail import it only shows Apple Mail, not Outlook.

Contacts i can do as vCards, no problem.

Calendars (and email messages) are exported by Outlook for Mac as .OLM files. Not .ics files.

I don't have a Mac to test this, but it's possible the import from Outlook doesn't work in OS X. The attached picture shows the window I see after Tools/Import..., selecting Mail, then Next. Note that Outlook appears as an option even though it's not installed; proceeding to the next step would only work if Outlook was installed.

But you say you can't even select anything in the first Tools/Import window?

I have seen reports of using the Mail app as an intermediary, and commercial software for converting olm files to mbox, which are easily imported to TB.

For calendars, it appears you can only export single events to ics files.

this is correct indeed.

I will need to experiment a bit more and read the link you send too. will report back again.
