Hi boater45,
Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.
- Click the Library button , then click Bookmarks.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Show All Bookmarks.
- At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
- Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
- In the new window that appears, click OK.
Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
For more information, see the Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer article. For other solutions, see the Recover lost or missing Bookmarks article.

Thank you.
Did you try to close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite (bookmarks and history) and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
- use "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
in case errors are reported close and restart Firefox and retry

When I followed your advice and clicked on the date for the bookmark backup that I wanted I got a note from Firefox saying that they were unable to process the backup file. Now what?
You usually get this error message when the places.sqlite file is corrupted.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.
use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
Keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_process_the_backup_file_-_Firefox If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.

When I selected the address you kindly provided a note came up saying that this address was no longer active. I seem to be running into all sorts of road blocks for some reason. I did find the library of backups for my bookmarks but when selecting each one of the 15 stored backups to try and reinstall I kept getting the error message that the backup file could not be opened. I'm afraid I've lost all of my backups for a reason that I can't figure out. When I closed down Firebox and reopened it they were just all gone. Might anyone out there have had the same issue and might be able to help me out? Would sincerely appreciate it! Thank you very much in advance. I've been using Firefox since 2006.

"Click the date of the BookMark." I had about 100 Bookmarks. How can I remember all of the dates when I saved them?
I hope I have not double posted this, but I'll try again.
I reinstalled FF after I had a malware attack that I could not fix. But I lost all of my Bookmarks in the process. Now I have a question for you if I may. In paragraph 4: "Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover." I have no backup date for the 100 bookmarks I lost. I made no backup when I reinstalled FF. Thank you. Bob burns
