When I highlight more than one inbox, the only messages that are shown are from the top inbox, not the ones underneath

So if I have ten inboxes, for example, I know that I can have a unified view of all ten (and that works just fine!). But if I want to look at just three of them together, and I highlight them as a group, the only messages that are displayed are those of the first inbox in the grouping of three - no messages from the other inboxes are displayed. I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance for your help, and please forgive me if the solution is really obvious - it's eluding me!

If you want to view messages from just a subset of the Inbox folders (or any other set of folders), create a Saved Search and add the Inbox folders you wish to aggregate. File/New/Saved Search.

Greetings. Thank you so much for your reply. I'm running 60.5.3 on MacOS and I couldn't find that option under the File/New menu, but I was able to do it through Edit/Find/Search Messages.

That said, the Saved Search appears as a subfolder of one of the mailboxes that I am including in the search (I was forced to designate a subfolder). Is it not possible for it to sit up top, outside of a particular mailbox, right under the unified inbox?

Last thing: do you know if the basic functionality that I was initially looking for where I could just highlight multiple folders has a bug or is just not implemented yet? That sure seems like it would make sense from a standardized interface standpoint, but I appreciate that it might not be a priority item for the folks developing Thunderbird in light of whatever the community needs are. Thanks again!

I'm not aware of any way to relocate a saved search folder outside the parent folder in which it's defined. Perhaps you can label the saved search folder as a Favourite folder to make it easier to stand out.

You can search Bugzilla if there have been any requests for the feature you describe.
