Is there a way to open a new tab next to the one you have open?
I sometimes have several tabs open, searching and also on social media, it becomes a pain when I am on a particular tab and need a new tab to look something up but then have to scroll to the end of the line of tabs to get to the new open one, then once having found what I needed to know have to scroll back and find the tab that I Was in.
Either a customisation or add on would be useful I feel.
Thanks

Hello Idwilliams,
There are indeed two ways :
Install this extension :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/always-right/
Or you could do this :
Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)
Type in the search bar browser.tabs.insert
and look for the preference browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent
Set its value to true
Then close and restart Firefox.
'Hope this helps .....

My pleasure - I'm glad it helped !
Could you flag McCoy's response of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1261720#answer-1229521 as solved your problem?

? I already have according to what I see.
Ah i see, no idea how, as I had tagged his reply as the solution, but that wasn't what got submitted for some reason? Anyway, now corrected.
Good. Thank you.
i tried the second option detailed by Idwilliams and it did not work for me. i want to right click on the tab i'm using and see on the list of options - "Open new tab". Instead, there's "Duplicate tab", and while i'm not opposed to doing so, i'd prefer to not.
...and am now wondering what exactly the change to config did.
oh, and now seeing that the proposed solutions came from McCoy. Thank you, McCoy and Idwilliams.
oh snap, IT DID WORK! just not in the way i imagined it would. Thanks, McCoy! now when i click the plus sign for "Open a new tab (Ctrl+T)", the new tab opens next to the one i'm using instead of at the end of all open tabs. Hurray!
