Moved 2 IMAP email addresses from godaddy to hover. The new IMAP data from hover works, however, the godaddy email and folder data is not indexed by Thunderbird and therefore cannot be accessed through Thunderbird. I have the IMAP folder with data from godaddy. Need help importing it back into Thunderbird. I've tried the migration procedures in documentation, however, I've partially overwritten the godaddy profile with the hover profile (ooops, my bad! ).

I know all the smtp, imap server info for godaddy and hover, but the godaddy accounts no longer exist on their servers. Therefore we have only the orphaned godaddy data files in the Thunderbird IMAP folder. I am hoping we can regain Thunderbird access by modifying the Thunderbird indexes...any suggestions are appreciated.

re: however, the godaddy email and folder data is not indexed by Thunderbird and therefore cannot be accessed through Thunderbird.

Thunderbird cannot access the emails on the godaddy server because that account has been closed by you, so therefore you cannot see what does not exist.

Hopefully, you had a backup of the previous imap account (godaddy) that contained fully synchronised folders. This would mean you have mbox files contaiing emails. mbox files just have the name of the folder - they do not have any extension. Index files eg: Inbox.msf do not contain emails. Folders called eg: Inbox.sbd mean you had subfolders and the .sbd folder may contain mbox files.

You would need to import the old godaddy mbox files into your 'Local Folders' mail account and then try to copy them into the hover imap account folders in order to get them onto the server or leave them in the 'Local Folders' mail account. Use this addon extension to import mbox files from old godaddy backup into suitable folders in your 'Local Folders' mail account. ImportExportTools:

How to install add extension:

Right click on 'Local Folders' mail account in Folder Pane and select 'ImportExporttools' > 'Import mbox file' Select first option if only mbox file. select second option if that folder had subfolders and you want to import all sunfolders as well. click on ok and then locate the mbox file and click on open to import. Image below shows an example of what mbox files look like.
