I've got several bookmarks sorted into folders. I want to create a new folder and put more bookmarks in it. This is easy to do, but FireFox puts the new folder at the bottom of the list. I want to move that new folder so it is farther up the list. I used to be able to do that by simply dragging and dropping the bookmark folder, but that no longer works.

All the tips I've found on the internet only tell me how to create a new folder and/or move bookmarks to an existing folder. They don't say how to move the folder itself. I see options in the "Library" window to sort alphabetically, but this is not what I want to do. I simply want to position the bookmark folder manually.
Can anybody help? I much appreciate your advice.

Hi Jeff, if you open up the Library window using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+b
  • "Show All Bookmarks"

Then in the left column click whichever container the folder is on:

  • Bookmarks Menu
  • Bookmarks Toolbar
  • Other Bookmarks

You should be able to drag items up and down the list on the right side to a new position.

Does that work?

Yes it does (now). Thanks for your response! I do appreciate your time responding to me.

It actually didn't work yesterday. Nothing would drag, and I assumed it was something new the developers had done to Firefox. Turns out a computer reboot was all that was needed.
   Thanks again! Take care -
