How can I delete message with a single mouse click?
Similar to Outlook or Gmail for desktops, is there a way to set up Thunderbird so that a message can be deleted by just clicking something on the message line. The direct ways to delete a message that I know involve several actions such as selecting the message and pressing Delete on the keyboard or right-click and selecting Delete from the options. I would like a method that just involves hovering over the message and one click of the mouse somewhere in the message line. Thanks.

re :hovering over the message and one click of the mouse somewhere in the message line. That method produces this action: opening an email to read it in the Message Pane, so it can hardly be used for deleting otherwise there would be serious problems with emails being erroneously deleted.
When I use gmail webmail, I still have to select an email and then select delete. Some have the option to select email using a checkbox and when all selected you click on delete. But in Thunderbird that is the same as holding down 'Ctrl' key whilst selecting emails that get highlighted and then pressing delete key or click on Delete button.
I did not make it clear as to how it is done in Outlook or Gmail. In Outlook for example, in the main window where all messages are listed, I can hover over the line of a particular message and at the far right of that line a grey "X" lights up if I hover over it with the pointer. Clicking on the X deletes the message without any other action. In Gmail, the X is a trash can but is the same method.
Then use Outlook. Thunderbird is not going to make you happen.
