Thunderbird crashes when attaching html signature file
I want to attach an signature block from an html file I created. When I try to choose a file for the signature block in Settings for my email account, Thunderbird crashes , i.e., just goes into a closed loop which only closing the program corrects. This did not happen with previous version of Thunderbird (68) but does consistently in version 78.2.0 which I just installed.

Did you create the html file with the TB message composer or another app? Is the current profile one that was used in 68 or a new one created with 78?
