TB 81.0 Update on Windows does not use my existing profile

more options

Hello,

the update to 81.0 results in Thunderbird wanting to make a fresh setup of all my Email accounts. The existing profile is referenced in the installs.ini and profiles.ini in the format Profiles/xxxxxx.default

However, it does not seem to be processed. The profile manager lets me select the profile "default" but I am immediately taken to the "setup your email" wizard again.

I tried to go back to an older version, but this would not accept the profile because it was changed by a newer version.

How can I persuade TB to use the existing profile?

Thanks, Bernd

Okay, after mentally preparing to set everything up again I added both of my email accounts and the old settings - including the local folders - have been recognized. The grouped view of my two inboxes shows probably the right amount of entries, but all of them empty. The single inbox view is correct.

So the perceived problem was luckily not a real one, but this misunderstanding couls have been avoided completely if the new version had just used the current profile instead of starting with what basically looks like a blank slate and prompting me to add email accounts.
