Migrating from another system. Thunderbird e-mail account does not work.
Hi, I'm migrating to CentOS 8 from a Scientific Linux system. Here are some details:
Old system (still working): Scientific Linux 6.2, installed about 2013 Firefox 60.9.0esr Thunderbird 31.6.0
New system: CentOS 8.2, installed a few days ago Firefox 78.2.0esr Thunderbird 68.11.0
I tried creating a Thunderbird account, with same name and e-mail address as an old one. Only the Inbox folder appears in that account. If I try to send an e-mail to myself, I can see it in the old system, not in the new one.

First things first, who is your email provider?
Provider is Fastweb
Remove the account then set it up afresh to use IMAP instead of POP3. I believe the settings are given here https://www.fastweb.it/myfastweb/assistenza/guide/fastmail/ and they match the ones here https://getmailspring.com/setup/access-fastwebnet-it-via-imap-smtp
Also, see Switch from POP to IMAP account
I tried to follow your suggestion, but something went wrong and I'm totally lost. I deleted pop fastweb accounts, both in SL and in CentOS. Then recreated imap accounts. There they are, but only an empty Inbox folder is visible. I can't send mail, nor save a draft. Firefox hangs trying to copy my mail in Sent folder, which apparently does not exist. As far as I can see, news service is OK.
