I have Restore Previous Session on Startup unchecked, but Firefox keeps trying to do it anyway. When I have to shut it down because it is not responding, it goes to the bad page when I start it again and gets stuck again. I just got the "We are having trouble restoring your previous session" page, so at least I have a choice now, but why is it trying to restore the previous session when I have the option unchecked?

Firefox will automatically try to restore the tabs and windows from the last session if a crash has occurred or Firefox didn't close properly the previous time. You can set this pref to 0 (zero) to always show the Session Restore page in case of a crash or when you use the Task Manager to force a shutdown.

  • browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes = 0 (-1:never ask; 0:always ask)

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
