Why does Firefox delete ALL history when it asks if you'd like to clear RECENT history. I was silly enough to click on a phishing link and although I exited as soon as I realised nothing was happening, I asked my security system provider if there was anything I could or should do. Could I login to my bank account, for instance. They suggested removing the item from my browser history. So when I saw the option to delete RECENT history, I thought that would be OK - I didn't need anything I had visited recently. But when I looked I noticed that it had cleared the lot!!

The Clear Recent History dialog has a time range selector to control what you want to clear. This is an older screenshot, but I think it's still the same:

Was that the dialog you used, or a different one?

Thank you very much for that. I think I might have taken the notice as being the case instead of noting that there were options.

Apologies. Glad I shouldn't have the same issue in future.
