If I import an old profile's bookmarks backup, will it delete all of my current bookmarks?
I am trying to restore an old collection of bookmarks that I had accumulated. I ran a manual backup of data which included my Firefox folder. I've put off restoring the data, but now I have two separate sets of bookmarks--both important to me. I am a technically inclined person.
If I use the last of the old automated bookmark backup folders in my Firefox profile, will it delete all of my current bookmarks? If so, what is the best method of combining these two sets of bookmarks?

What is the file extension?
You can import an HTML backup to merge bookmarks. If you restore a JSON (.json or .jsonlz4) backup then all bookmarks are replaced by the bookmarks in the backup, so you need to create an HTML backup beforehand.

An HTML backup starts with: <!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1> A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":
If your backup is a .json file, or a .jsonlz4 file, I have a tool to convert it to an importable .html file in the ancient Netscape format. Unlike restoring a backup, importing a bookmarks.html file won't replace your current set of bookmarks, but you may end up with some duplicates depending on the similarity of the two sets.
