What happened to view image and view video? I don't want to open them in a new tab.
Is there an option to get the old behavior back? When I'm browsing for reference images and I want to just have an image or video in a window I could just right click and use view image/video. Now it's open in a new tab.
You essentially just added one useless click to the whole thing which is me having to close the tab the image came from.
If you answer with, "You can just use copy image link and paste it in the same tab." You just turned what was right click then left click into right click, left click, move mouse over, click to highlight the address, ctrl+v
When I have to do this to hundreds of images every day, every single little click counts.
So, can I restore the old and better functionally? And really, when you do these changes, give an option to keep the old method or keep both.... Gesh...

A lot user are asking the same question, but it appears to me that Dev changed "View Image" to "Open Image in New Tab". Both options open the image in a new tab.
I even downloaded an older version (87) to see if the process was handled differently. In 87 it's kind of bad because instead of opening a new tab, the image is opened the current tab.
If I'm missing something, please enlighten me. It would be nice if you can show the process that you say is missing.
Here is a link to get older versions of Firefox. http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

I suppose you didn't read the post and why it's bad for me for it to open in a new tab.
I want it to open in the current tab. As it used to.
Opening in a new tab means I have to close up tabs after when before I didn't have to.
Not to mention it changes the focus of the window to opened up tab.... When you have >100 tabs open for images you have to scroll all the way back to where you were to continue your image evaluation in order...
I use it for reference gathering for art work and I have to do it on a daily basis. Cumulatively, when I'm looking over 100+ photos, it's several minutes wasted plus stress from being annoyed at having to do unnecessary things when I'm already busy.
Normally I'd just use the usual image search sites, ctrl+click the images of interest. View image when they were actually relevant and leave it there for later inspection. Rince repeat, then I go back one by one and the good ones I can just drag & drop at PureRef. Now I have to open the image in a new window, which rolls the entire tab to the end, so I have to roll the tabs all the way back, close where the image came from, do the same thing with the next one. It's ridiculous.
So I want the old functionality back so I don't have to waste time and patience. I don't mind there being new functions like open in a new tab, but give me an option between the two.

"View Image" has been replaced with "Open Image in New Tab".
You can look at this extension to restore "View Image": "View Image Context Menu Item":

Doesn't work with every image/site. For example if you click view image directly on a google image search it doesn't open the thumb-nail. Not that I would use that, but it does work if the image is expanded.
Also can't seem to move the option to the very top of the right click menu no matter what I put in the userChrome.css. At best it goes to the top of the add-on options.
I guess it's a patchwork solution for now. They really shouldn't change normal behavior without giving the option to keep the old behavior. That's just bad development.
