Hello everyone,

First of all: Thanks for the great work that you do.

I was once told that there are no stupid questions, but this one might be the exception. Nevertheless I'll ask it:

1. If I use thunderbird with an existing account like hotmail or gmail I need to enter my account credentials in order to establish a connection to gmail, hotmail etc. I read that those credentials are saved in my profile. Is this profile saved only locally or do I transmit my credentials (password etc.) to a server of Mozilla? Short: Do you guys have access to my passwords? (I really hope not or only in an ecrypted form)

2. My mails are saved on your servers, even if only temporarily. So are your server encrypted?

I know that it is not polite to ask to many questions if someone is doing something for free, but this is really decisive for me when it comes to the question of using thunderbird or not... I hope u understand.

Thanks and best regards Claudio

TB doesn't operate any mail servers - those are provided by the service that administers your account, e.g. gmail, hotmail, AT&T etc. Your account credentials are stored locally in the profile folder in encrypted files including logins.json and key4.db, (and also retained with gmail, hotmail etc.). If you store mail on the service provider's servers, you would have to ask them about the security provisions.
