are you sure that the "tracking" notifications are not simple courtesy's to let you know that you are being tracked by the website(s) you are visiting even though the trackers are not being blocked by FF?

in otherwords, its seems that you have given FF permission to allow tracking cookies to be installed onto your system. So FF is merely letting you know bout them but is not blocking them, due to your "custom settings".

I really didn't describe the problem very well. The thing is, pretty much every site I go to takes for ever to load now unless I tell firefox to stop the stop tracking feature and whatever else it's doing to "make me safe". What used to take me about 15 minutes in the morning to check my email, read my news feeds etc now takes me a half hour because I'm waiting for firefox to load the darn page even after I tell it using the small icon next to the http thing to stop stopping the tracking. Half the time I have to X out and restart firefox to get anywhere. As I said, when I close the browser everything including history is deleted so I really don't need or want the feature to stop the tracking and everything else. I thought I had set that in settings but it's still doing it.

Any way, I really miss down and dirty days and everything is turning into bloatware nowadays which in turn makes the 'bad' guys go to different lengths to bypass "make me safe" stuff which starts a never ending cycle. I guess I'll try Edge.

Hmm, if nothing is being blocked, what if you just click the Stop button and then the Reload button? Maybe it was the reloading that resolved the issue.

If that helps, I wonder why Firefox is stalling on the first retrieval. Is there a pattern of certain sites being affected?

On rare occasions reloading works but most of the time the browser just seems to hang up. It appears to be the worst when I'm on a site like yahoo in which I'm clicking on various articles that redirect to different websites and oddly enough Duckduckgo search engine when coming from a different site like yahoo. Is firefox trying to tell me that duckduck is lying and is tracking me?

I don't think it would. Maybe there is some disconnect between the Options page settings and reality. Does the drop-down show that anything is actually being blocked?

I think I've figured out the problem. The Enhanced Tracker Protection is always on by default even if you have unchecked all the boxes and the sites still have to go through their filters. Oh well .. so long ff and thanks for all the fish.

Hi Anne, the drop-down shows that nothing is being blocked.

When you click the on/off switch to disable tracking protection on a site, Firefox stores that exception for future visits. Do you not see your exceptions when you click the Manage Exceptions button?
