I searched and searched how to add FF to my authenticator so I could get the code to set up sync and/or 2FA. FINALLY, someone gave this answer: When you enable 2FA then you get a QR code that you need to scan with an Authenticator app that generates a 6-digit code that you need to enter to confirm that 2FA is working.

The answer was "scan with the AUTHENTICATOR APP!!" I was just scanning it with the phone. Duh on me.

I'm posting this to help others. Sorry it's not a question per se.

Note that the QR code is an otpauth://totp link as you might have noticed, so if the authenticator app has registered this protocol then then QR scanner app should allow to open this link in the authenticator app.

I missed the sentence, "Open the code scanner on your Firefox app and show code when ready." I wasn't using the code scanner or my authenticator app. Right now, I don't remember how I scanned the code, but it wasn't with either app, but I scanned it with something. Maybe just my camera! I think I understand what you are saying. That if I used my QR code scanner, it would have recognized the code and gone to my authenticator app automatically. Thank you for taking time to answer.
