Firefox Sync not working on new phone

I got a new phone (new model as the old one - a replacement) and set up Firefox Sync on it. However, I haven't been able to get my Sync account to fully recognize this new phone.

When I go to Settings > My account and select "sync now", nothing ever happens. It always says "last synced: never". Bookmarks aren't synced. I can't change what syncs with the new phone, as they're greyed out (perhaps since it doesn't think the new phone ever synced?). When I try to go to the Synced tabs menu (next to the open tabs and private tabs), it just says "please enable tab syncing". Pressing the "Sync" button will make it say "Syncing..." but nothing changes.

I can change the name of the new phone in my account, and this is recognized by other devices synced to my account.

I had taken off my old phone from the sync account. I thought something was weird with my account. I tried adding the old phone back on and... it works fine. Bookmarks sync, tabs can be sent.

I've already tried: Clearing Firefox app cache on new phone = didn't work. Uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it on the new phone. Signing into Sync again. = didn't work. Signing out of all devices on my Sync account, then signing in to my main computer and then new phone = didn't work.

What is wrong with this new phone?

Hi

Assuming you have access to the old phone and it is still signed into Firefox Sync, go to https://accounts.firefox.com/ and under Connected Services, remove your new phone.

Once that is done, go to your new phone and sign into your Firefox Account from scratch.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already tried removing the new phone from the sync account & then adding it back. Then I tried removing it from sync & uninstalling firefox, etc. The whole list of things I've tried.

Funnily enough, the old phone was perfectly fine with being removed and then added back on to the sync account. It synced immediately and other devices on the account can "see" it.

Firefox on the new phone is also crashing a lot. Related, do you think?

If you open about:crashes and tap the Socorro link and paste it into a repy to this topic, we may be able to look into this for you.

What level of enhanced tracking protection do you have set?

Do you have any add-ons installed?

Are you installing from the Google Play Store?

What version of Firefox for Android do you have installed?

Here's one of the Socorro links -- but there are a lot of crashes that don't have Socorro links. Some just say "native crash", and others have longer descriptions - java.lang.runtimeexception related. https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/5d70bbc0-82a3-4ea2-999b-c7d610211102

Enhanced Tracking Protection is on Standard I have one addon: uBlock Origin I install from the Google Play Store. At first setup, I copied all info/apps via LG Mobile Switch from my old phone. When Firefox didn't work on the new phone, I desynced, uninstalled Firefox, rebooted, and installed from the Google Play store and resynced. My android Firefox is version 94.1.1

Thanks!

I've disabled uBlock Origin and turned off Enhanced Tracking Protection. I'll keep an eye out for more crashes with a Socorro link!

I have over 70 GB free, since the phone is new.

More info: I got a notice today that I was over my 2 GB data used (a warning I usually set up), despite the fact that the phone has been used for less than a month... and I'm stingy with data. Firefox had background data use on, and it had downloaded > 1 GB for some reason.

Just got a Socorro link:

Thank you for that information, really useful.

Are you using any security or anti-virus apps on your device?

What is the make, model number and Android version of your device?

Hope it helps! It's still crashing, even recently - https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/eec82023-58de-4c78-8918-36f2b0211109 https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/eda7f5cd-2e82-400f-b497-2eca00211108

No security or anti-virus apps on my phone.

My phone is an LG V60. It's on Android 11.

Any further ideas? I'm still getting crashes and Sync is still not functional. I'll open a tab and Firefox crashes, but I re-open Firefox and go to the same exact website and don't get a crash. It's frustratingly random.
