Tbird keeps throwing valued emails into the JUNK MAIL folder... not the JUNK folder. I don't understand why there are two junk folders, or why Tbird has decided for me which emails are valued. How do I stop this usurping and return it to MY choices? Thanks.

Hello

take a look at the default junk mail settings under Settings / Privacy & Security, and at the Junk Settings under each account you use, particularly the 'Destination and Retention' section.

Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate your time. However, I did not find "Destination and Retention" section anywhere in settings for any of the folders, including Junk Mail settings. The site is up to date, so I don't know where else to look for these.

As I tried to correct each one in the Junk Mail folder that didn't belong, I discovered that if I hit the Junk Mail bar for an email, the "not junk" button came up and I was able to click on it, which then sent that piece back into my Inbox.

I still don't know if Tbird will remember those settings, but at least this work-around seemed to work for the ones I recognized.

Again, thanks!

Ah I see, you are looking at the accounts in the main window, while I was writing about the accounts under the Edit menu / Account settings. You'll find the Junk Mail Settings here.

Oh gosh... I keep wondering what is missing from this edition of Tbird now. My Edit tab has nothing about Account settings in the tab. Now I'm REALLY confused! I'm not a novice here, but since the updates of Tbird, I have more issues I've just ignored until this one is solved.

I appreciate your help!

Is this 'Junk Mail' folder an IMAP folder that is created by the mail provider? If it is, the rules for moving messages there are determined by the provider before mail is downloaded to TB. In that case, you should whitelist or unblock senders through the controls offered in the webmail access for the account. Adding safe or non-junk contacts to webmail contacts is sometimes a way to do this.

Your edit tab ? it's a menu, not a tab. See screenshot.

EDIT to my post: oh well, it has been moved to the Tools menu. Oh well. it's so nice when developers are moving around options like that, it is making support SOO easy.
