Attached files are sometimes corrupted
Hi, For a few months now, I've had random issues with mail attachments. I cannot find specific conditions but it seems some attachments are not correctly downloaded by thunderbird while others are. In my latest issue, it concerns a pdf file attached to an email i received. If I try to open the file, thunderbird show a blank tab. If I download the file on my computer, I get a corrupted pdf file that is only 34bytes (thunderbird says it should be 218Kb). On another recent email, a 506Kb attached pdf file is working correctly. It is a gmail account and if I go to the gmail webmail, I can see/download the file correctly
Any help would be appreciated

Hi flounou I am responding to this just to keep it on my radar. Yes, I have been plagued by this for a while. It appears to be intermittent, which makes it difficult to demonstrate. In my experience it affects only PDFs. The 34 byte download is always the same size (except when it downloads the whole PDF properly). I have tried turning off the option for TB to handle PDFs. (Set to Always Ask). That seems to tame it a little bit but, as I said, it was intermittent in the first place. I run a Dovecot/Postfix server, and I can confirm that the attachment as stored on the server is intact: a webmail client like Roundcube or Squirrel can download it. In TB, I am using IMAP exclusively, and I leave the body and attachments on the server. I have not tested with TB downloading with POP3. Geoff
First, I'd recommend disabling scanning of the TB profile by antivirus (MailShield e.g.). If the problem persists, try toggling mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks to false in Settings/General/Config. editor.

I also had this problem and posted this issue today. It happens with MS Word files as well as PDF files. However toggling mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks to false has fixed the issue. Thank you.
