Favicon being overridden by images from webpages instead

I've noticed since I've replaced my Samsung tablet with a newer version (S6 Lite running Android 12) that this version of Firefox is not picking up the favicon on my website. When I save the website shortcut to my homescreen, instead of the favicon Firefox is picking up the first image it finds on the page.

So - if I save all five webpages of my website to my tablet, each will have a different image - and none of them will be my favicon. The image from my tablet screen, attached (5 rows x 6 icons, against a beach backdrop) - shows three of the pages from my website, circled in yellow. You can see that none of them have picked up my fish favicon, and some of them have picked up the Etsy image link instead.

This problem of the favicon being ignored isn't being replicated elsewhere - my PC (very ancient, running an up to date Firefox browser) shows the favicon in the browser toolbar and on the homescreen, and my Samsung phone (equally ancient, running an up to date Chrome browser) shows the generic alphabet letter icon when the website is saved to my homescreen (this is not a problem, I'm just mentioning it). Images attached.

Is there a simple fix for the favicon being overridden, or a workaround? I'd be grateful if someone could explain why it's happened and what I can do to fix it. I'm conscious that if someone saved my website to their browser using just the favicon and no text, as I do, they might simply delete it if they don't recognise the favicon. Thanks in advance. I am sorry for the delay in responding.

I have looked into this matter further and have found that the icon handling in Firefox for Android is a known issue that our developers are looking into. You can follow progress on this and add comments at:
