Hi All,

I keep Google messages for web open in a tab.

Normally I see new messages have arrived because the tab title changes to indicate this.

This feature stopped working a few days ago. I now have to keep switching to that tab to see if there are any new messages.

The equivalent for outlook is still working ok.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

'messages for web'

Its a way of linking your phone to your PC so that you can read and send SMS messages from your PC.

AFAIK unless you can identify what program that anyone reading this will not be able to verify what is happening. Did you contact Google support about this since this is their software as well?

Are you possibly using content blocking extensions that might be blocking the JavaScript that checks for new messages ?

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

I have no add-ons or extensions installed in Firefox.

The problem also happens in Chrome so its not a Firefox problem.

It must be a problem with the Google messages app on the phone or the phone itself.

Thanks for all who posted here.
