Do you receive an error message when you click Send/ Receive? If so, what's the error message?

Message box appears with words; "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.optusnet.com.au timed out. Try again."

The lock icon means you are using a secure connection to the mail server. Which the email provider may not support. If you check your account settings, are these the settings you have entered?

IMAP Port 993 IMAP Security SSL SMTP Port 465 SMTP Security SSL

Or you could try these settings IMAP 143 no SSL SMTP 25 no SSL
