displayed list of messages in my in box
I previously enjoyed a display of my accounts inbox in which each message subject line took up just one line on the screen and there were no spaces between the entries. after having to reset my computer and restart Thunderbird I get a much less dense layout on the screen. How to fix?

Sounds like you're using Cards View and want to revert to Table View:
