Thanks for the coolpreview solution, just disabling it fixed mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is really annoying how do you get rid of it
uninstall Cool Preview, and the problem will go away!
Looks like the problem is with Adobe flash plugin for Firefox. Removing Adobe flash plugin then reinstallint it fixed the problem with me. But I have to avoid google meanwhile.

I had the same problem (Firefox 3.6.3 for OpenSuse). Like Tonio wrote, just uninstall (or deactive) CoolPreviews and the noise is gone after restart of Firefox.
The cause seems to be connected with the fact that google homepage is now a pacman game. There must be some weird interference with cool preview.
Anyway with cool preview disabled it is fixed.
it seems they fixed is... as a lot of people start up with google as their homepage, a lot of people seem to be having this problem...
change your start page to something else then google.com
Yup, exactly the same thing happened to me - disabling CoolPreviews fixed it!
disable cool previews
Nicely played Google, nicely played.
You are all idiots.
textKNOCK IT OFFFFF ALREADY!!!
Cant get it to stop!!!!
Who the hell even uses Cool Previews?
Idiots.
u guys do u delete cool preview from the options-applications tab bar becz if so its not their arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Disabling Cool Previews solves the problem definitely! Thanks @Tonio and @Anonymous you saved my brain :D
Cool Previews loads Google in the background for some reason, so you have to go to your add-on manager and disable Cool Previews. If Google didn't auto start their flash it wouldn't cause this issue.
something's very wrong.Stealth Pac Man???!!!
effin google!!!!
