When I try to download a file the file usually downloads but Firefox freezes.
Windows XP Pro SP2, Firefox 3.6. When I try to download a file the file usually downloads; as the dl proceeds the mouse cursor over Firefox is an arrow. When the dl completes, the arrow turns to an hourglass and Firefox hangs completely. I cannnot close the program using task manager; I cannot stop the process; I have to reboot. I have tried all the remedies suggested: disable addons, manually remove downloads.sqlite, etc. to no avail.
This happened
Every time Firefox opened

type: about:config into the locationbar then press enter. in about:config type: browser.download.manager.scanwhendone then double click on it to change it to false.that should fix it..
Thanks for the reply, but scanwhendone was already set to false.
Connection times out. :-( I'll try again, later.
The MozillaZine KB is having problems, try the Google cache in that case. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=cache:http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files
