See "File handling in Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2": http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions

You have to delete mimeTypes.rdf. You can find it here (Windows XP): C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Aplication Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default.

Hi guys, this has NOTHING to do with Mime-Types, either server or local, the problem is the new Modal Boxes that were introduced. To fix:

  1. in the address bar type about:config
  2. in the filter text-box type in: prompts.tab_modal.enabled
  3. right-click on prompts.tab_modal.enabled and select "Toggle" so that the value reads "False"
  4. Restart FireFox and PHP now loads how it used to!

Enjoy!!

I've tried all of these solutions--it works for about 10 minutes, then I'm back to the download screen for .php files. This is SO annoying. Currently prompts.tab_modal.enabled is set to false, I have deleted mimeTypes.rdf twice with Firefox closed, and I don't have either of the following parameters: browser.download.pluginOverrideTypes plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types Environment: User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:6.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.1

I do not know what the heck has happened with Mozilla but they are circling the drain. I am having the same problem. I am not sure if it is Mozilla or Microsoft but it sure seems like a bunch of people are having the same problem.

If I try to use tools - options - applications I CAN NOT change what is listed for php. I have tried everything on these replies. The best I have gotten to is when I double click a php file it will open a decision window (you have chosen to open .....) It will just loop through this, if I hit the do this automatically.....) it will open a blank tab on firefox and loop again until I kill it.

Is there any hope or should I finally go to chrome or IE. The idea is sickening but I am also tired of all the crap firefox has turned into. It is almost like MS bought them. Remember to good old day. Upgrade after upgrade with little to no problems.

I am encountering the same problem and have tried all those methods listed with no luck......

but I found that if I downloaded the php file and change the extension to the linked document, say .pdf, I can open it and it is really the linked document. It seems that it is not the problem of handling php file, it renders it correctly and get the correct document. It simply doesn't know how to rename the file.

e.g. by clicking

xxxxxxx/download_attachment.php?target=xxxx/123.pdf

I can save a file named download_attachment.php

then I rename the extension to pdf, I can open it as a pdf file and it is actually the 123.pdf!

well......it seems it is a work around until firefox learn how to rename the file......at least the file is downloaded.....
