As more people are using widescreen monitors, I think it would be helpful to follow the lead of Mac's Safari. With Safari, maximizing sets the height to the height of the screen, but the width is the width of the web page. I'm suggesting to other web browser developers and software developers to follow suit.

Sorry, I don't see a feature like that in Safari, was it added by an extension?

Overall, I don't see the point in having the window width snap to 1/2 the width of a web page, that's way too narrow, and calling that "maximized" is silly. IMO, "Maximize" is the full window size, except for the Task Bar / System Tray at the bottom.

I have a small wide screen monitor that I have set for 1280 x 768. I use the Custom Geometry extension to set the window width to 1024px, while keeping the height to the full window height above the Task Bar - to give me a Firefox window size like a standard monitor. The Maximize icon works normally, as does Full Screen button or key; the Custom Geometry button restores my custom setting. In different Firefox Profiles I set the offset from the left edge of the monitor to a different dimension in each Profile, so I can can see the other Firefox windows (Profiles) with a 20px offset regardless of which window I am viewing.

"Sorry, I don't see a feature like that in Safari, was it added by an extension?" Are you looking at Safari on Mac AS I STATED, or on Windows?

"Overall, I don't see the point in having the window width snap to 1/2 the width of a web page, that's way too narrow, and calling that "maximized" is silly." Who said anything about 1/2 the width??? I said the width of the web page. Are you just stupid or what?

Look, you don't like my suggestion, or don't understand it, fine. I just wonder what you're doing working with Mozilla, dumb ass.

BTW, your "solutions" are far more convoluted than my simple suggestion.
