详细了解

Firefox can't play youtube videos on youtube; only embedded on other sites or in email.

Since yesterday I can't access videos on youtube any more. The page opens as it should and I can see all the video information and all comments and video suggestions, but the player itself is only a black screen. There are no controls and no picture.

I can still watch the videos embedded on other sites or in email, but not directly on youtube.

It's definitely a Firefox-related issue, because I double-checked with Chrome and IE and everything worked fine with those browsers.

  • If you use extensions like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flashblock that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I tried it, but it still doesn't work. It looks like this - http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6859/whyyyy.png - no matter if I'm using Safe Mode or not.

And as I said, I can still play the videos if they're embedded somewhere. It's just on youtube I get that black box.

I solved it! I used CCleaner, and when I turned on Firefox again youtube showed the player as normal.
