FireFox is opening lots of tabs on it's own. i cant do anything about it but to shut it down using windows task manager. all of this happen after i installed flashgot add-on. (i've used this add-on before and it was working ok)
I've been using Firefox for two years now, and been using flashgot add-on. and I really like it. this laptop has firefox on it since day one. and i had flashgot on it as well. but today when I wanted to download something I've only got one option (save file) flashgot wasnt there. i was kinda suprised but downloaded and installed flashgot anyways. it asked me to restart firefox and i let it. then when it restarted i got lots of pop windows asking me to which application is used to open this link (there wasnt a link and i had only firefox so i picked it) had like 10 or more pop windows. so i chose use this option for all. when i did so all of a sudden got lots of tabs poping then a new firefox window pop on with lots of tabs poping then a new window. i've got up to 19 windows poping with lots of tabs. i've had to shut it down with task manager.
now when i want to use firefox about 20 tabs pop up then a new firefox window pop up , then when i type an url another 20 tabs pop then a window pop.....
this laptop may have problems. am scaning it now using ESET online scan to see whats going on. thanks for your help in advance

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

You may have a content type incorrectly set to "Use Firefox". This article should help - Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link, start with the section "Change the action for a content type".

I did whats u've asked. there no tabs poping :P but there the same pop window that askes me which appilcation to use, here is a screen shot below.
i get this window when i start firefox, if i click on a tab will pop + another window like this will pop. if i tried to open a website i also get this pop window.
btw, at the moment i cant use firefox at all because of this.

I tried. FireFox is my default, I changed the default then changed it back to firefox. the problem is still there.
everytime i try to open a web page it askes me which application to use (the same screen shot in my perviouse post) if i click on firefox it will open a blank page then the same pop window with the same question. if i checked do not ask me again lots of tabs blank tabs will pop.
i cant use firefox to surf the net at all atm, am using IE -.-
just to let you guys know: I've uninstalled the Flashgot add-on and the problem is still there.
