I downloaded FireFox 4.0 and then when I went to use it, I got the Message "this is unsupported architecture". Ridiculous! Should I go back to Internet Explorer or use Safari from now on???

For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 .

Try again, Jeffstrayer; I had the same message at first and also have an Intel processor on my Imac. I tried again a few days later and was successful.
