since downloading 5.0, i cannot open a new tab. how to get back 4.0?

One common cause of this problem is the Ask toolbar. If you have it, you may be able to disable or remove it here:
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
Your system details show the Ask.com toolbar in the user agent as AskTbPSI/3.11.3.15590
