Is Firefox 3.6.17 actually more recent than 3.6.3 ?
Firefox 3.6.3 is installed on my computer. Mozilla (?) has been sending a message urging me to update to the most recent version "for security reasons".
However, the "update" that is actually version 3.6.17 .... and the version number appears to be prior to version 3.6.3 -- if only because there is a zero implied AFTER the digit 3 and not before the digit 3 in that version number.
Version 3.6.03 would precede version 3.6.17 but there never was a version 3.6.03, as far as I know. The versions prior to 3.6.3 were 3.6.2x. So it would be inconsistent to assume that version 3.6.17 is subsequent to version 3.6.3. If the software is an update to 3.6.3 then it should either be designated as 3.6.3x where x is one or more digits, or as version 3.6.4.
Succinctly, version 3.6.17 appears to be (from its number) prior to version 3.6.3 and not subsequent. This seems to me to be just another example of the unfortunate, increasingly evident inattention to detail among Mozilla technical and administrative personnel.
That's what happens when you imbibe too much caffeine and ginseng.

3.6.17 is the latest one. The numbers just ran 1,2,3 up to 17. Logical but, I'll agree, confusing.
"Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3" is from last year April 2010 and "Gecko/20110420 Firefox/3.6.17" is from this year April 2011
