When closing Firefox 4, I find bits of bookmarks etc still displayed, requiring a screen refresh

When I move around the bookmarks menu and click on a link, the Bookmarks Menu closes but leaves a piece behind. The Bookmarks in front of the main Firefox window clear but if the menu overlaps the firefox window, a piece is left behind. Even if I exit Firefox, the piece remains as if kept in display memory. A screen refresh clears the display.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

This has resolved the problem. Thanks. I now need to find 64-bit Windows 7 drivers for the graphics card.
